On Sunday, May 22, The Ann Arbor Animal Hospital and Groom n Go are sponsoring a fundraiser Charity Garage Sale, Dog Wash & Bake Sale at the Ann Arbor Animal Hospital to benefit two charities: The Fixed Income Family Fund (at the Animal Hospital) and Ronald McDonald House in C.S. Mott’s Childrens Hospital in Ann Arbor. Hours of the event are from noon until 4 pm.
Lots of activities are planned, including an Ann Arbor Police Department K-9 Demonstration, tours of an Ann Arbor Fire Department truck, a Magician, as well as dog washing by Groom n Go and the annual Garage & Bake Sale by the Ann Arbor Animal Hospital.
Both Groom n Go locations as well as the Animal Hospital are accepting donations of gently used items to be sold at the Garage Sale, with all proceeds benefiting Ann Arbor Animal Hospital’s Fixed Income Family Fund (veterinary care for existing Animal Hospital patients in need) and Ann Arbor’s Ronald McDonald House.
If you can’t make it to the event, we have included a simple way to donate.
About the Charities:
The Ann Arbor Animal Hospital Fixed Income Family Fund
The Ann Arbor Animal Hospital has a fund that helps to meet the needs of critically ill or injured animals whose human companions are experiencing a temporary financial crisis and are unable to meet those needs.
At the present time we are accepting donations to the fund. Our hope is that as the fund continues to grow we will be able to meet the needs of all the deserving animals who so desperately need our help. Until that point in time, it will be used only for true emergency cases.
If you would like more information about the fund or if you would like to make a contribution please speak with one of our staff members. For more information on the fund and fund criteria, see the Fixed Income Family Fund page on our website.
Ronald McDonald House
At C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, families are focusing on helping their children with frightening, confusing, and even painful treatments and procedures. These in-hospital treatments can last one day, several weeks, or even a year or more. For these families, accommodations near our major medical center may be hard to come by or financially out of reach. Families often sleep in waiting room chairs, on the floor, on lobby benches, or in the car. The Ronald McDonald House offers a hopeful alternative and a home away from home.
The need to travel and stay away from home can be a barrier preventing families from getting the essential care they need for their ill and injured children. The Ronald McDonald House allows families to access specialized medical treatment by providing a place to stay at little or sometimes no cost. By staying at the Ronald McDonald House, parents can also better communicate with their child’s medical team and keep up with complicated treatment plans when needed.
Research shows that families are stronger when they are together, which has been proven to help in a child’s healing process. Families who stay at the Ronald McDonald House are there to support, reassure, and comfort their children. The House is there to support them. Since 1985, the Ronald McDonald House of Ann Arbor has provided a loving home-away-from-home for families undergoing profoundly difficult experiences.
